Galanthus nivalis 'Viridapice'
Edgeworthia chrysantha
Asarum splendens
Helleborus x hybridus anemone centred
Helleborus x hybridus double flowered
Interesting to look at what has been flowering over the last two years and make a comparison. This year in general terms, just as last month, has suprisingly far fewer plants in bloom. Of course, there are the stalwarts, Galanthus nivalis and its varieties, Hamamelis mollis 'Pallida', Daphne bhoula 'Jaqueline Postill', various Helleborus hybrids and species, Lonicera x purpusii, Camellia 'Show Girl', Vinca difformis. These and a few others seem to be in flower no matter what. However with milder weather, a wide range of plants come into flower early. Included amongst these are the now large Acacia melanoxylon with its tiny pompom flowers.
