Finding this site and seeing all these different plants, one may wonder where one can obtain these. The majority, if not all, can be obtained from websites on line and a listing of these can be found under links

Autumn colours at their best

The autumn colours have been spectacular this year (2004), the Acers in particular have been amazing. The only downside is how fleeting this phase has been. Another feature of this season this year, has been the incidence of "rogue" flowering. Rhododendron saluense x prostratum and Rhododendron 'Thackers Ruby' always provide a few flowers during these months. Unusually Corylopsis pauciflora has produced a lot of flowers which did not open fully as they do in Spring - very odd. 2005 and autumn has just begun - we shall see if we get such a show of colours again. The end result, the autumn colours (2005) were very muted and not the show we experienced in 2004.
Autumn 2006 - well this is said to break records for warmth averaging over 16°C. 1947 and 1976 were two previous years which were warm but not breaking this years high temperatures.
