Planting
has continued unabated, but only because the garden has been
heavily watered. Is one making a rod for one's own back? I
am not sure! - probably. Patrinia scabiosifolia has
turned out to be a really good garden plant especially when
it is grown with something else as grown on its own it is a
bit floppy. Hydrangea
serrata BSWJ4817 is exqisite with intense small florets on a small
neat shrub. This is growing in part shade in a dampish spot. Hosta
ventricosa BSWJ4389 from Sichuan is a real gem amongst Hosta species;
furrowed shiny fresh green leaves, makes this plant something special.
What's more the leaves have been practically untouched by slugs and
snails. As an added bonus the flowers are particularly good, lavender/purple
stripped with bands of white. This is really worth growing and one
of my favourite plants. |
